You guys & gals have all been great in supporting HKPOE!'s charity events in the last couple years... and this is the most important event we've ever held.
Some seriously horrible things are going down in Haiti. To put it into perspective, less than 2,000 people died in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. 200,000 in Haiti are presumed dead already, and without food, clean water or medical supplies, that number is just going to continue to grow. Bodies are being anonymously dumped into mass graves, and the elderly and invalid lay dying in the streets. To make things even worse, almost the entire infrastructure of the government has collapsed in the process. They're already starting to see desperate people commit desperate acts just to survive. Can you even imagine on how bad things have to get before you're willing to kill another human being for food or medicine?
All proceeds raised from the show will be donated to Doctors without Borders, to help provide much needed assistance to the people. We already have a corporate sponser who will match what we raise, so we really need all of your help to make the biggest impact. We realize, however, that some people may not be able to make a show like this on such short notice, and that's why we're asking for help here.
All online donations will be pooled with our proceeds from the show and sent out on February 8th, and the total will be posted here the following day. We're really hoping to help out as much as we can, and any help we can get is good help, from pennies to dollars.
We've already been really touched by the kindness of folks donating to other causes we've rallied for (the two most recent being a multi-thousand dollar fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and a significant donation to the Phoebe Foundation for Domestic Animals), and we look forward to proudly announcing the numbers raised by what is one of the best fan bases for one of the worst bands in the tri-state area. Thanks as always.
Sincerely,
Hardcore Karaoke Pile-On Extravaganza!
