Fortunado
Fortunado's debut album is fun, educational, and the hands down best basement recording I have ever heard. The disc is 9 tracks spanning just under 35 minutes. Each track captures the essence of Fortunado perfectly. This album conveys the poppy, energetic ska/rock that fortunado has been playing live for almost a year now.
The lead track "The London Force" is my favorite track on the CD. You may not know but The London Force (as well as 16-bit) was a proposed name for the band, and from what I hear it is still a point of contention. Back to the review. The horn lines and quick upbeat riffs are addicting. The second track is the recently release single "Roses" with its driving rock beat and whoa's that I can't help singing along to. "Doctrine of Love" slows down the pace with a steady ska beat opening the song and a rocking chorus.
The CD works its way to "Prelude in Mather House" and if you were looking for a CD fully of poppy ska/rock songs you might find yourself skipping over it a few times before you give it a listen. As I've listened to this CD 10 times over the past three days (yes I think it is that good). I admit to having skipped it the first 2 times but then I listened to it and its definately an awesome sounding composition, granted not dancable like the rest of the CD, but a well put together work. I then realized that it leads into "Represent" perfectly. After realizing this I, listening to the CD again, realized that a lot of the songs do this "London Force" transitions into "Roses" listening to the CD kind of feels like listening to one long dynamic song which is kind of a cool feeling.
I would definately recommend checking this CD out. The songs are well written, well rehearsed, and recorded very well. The release is February 12th in Windsor, CT; but if you can't wait that long check out their first single "Roses".
